Shot peening is a cold working process used to produce a compressive residual stress layer and modify the mechanical properties of metals and composites. It entails striking a surface with shot (round metallic, glass, or ceramic particles) with force sufficient to create plastic deformation.

Vapor blasting is a non-aggressive surface prep technique that has been specifically developed for applications requiring finer finishes.

 

Plastic Bead Blasting - mostly used to remove paint on metal surfaces without damaging the underlining material.

 

Media Finishing or Vibratory finishing is used to deburr, radius, descale, burnish, clean, and brighten a large number of relatively small workpieces.

 

NDT- Nondestructive testing evaluates the properties of a part material or system without causing damage to the material being inspected. Our methods include Mag particle (Magnetic Particle Inspection) for detecting flaws in the surface and subsurface of ferromagnetic materials such as Iron, Nickel, Cobalt, and other alloys. Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) is a sensitive, reliable, and low-cost testing method used for detecting flaws in the surface of welds, castings, forgings and other part materials without causing damage to the component under examination.

 

At Peening Technologies of Georgia, we offer NDT testing methods that comply with a wide range of industry standards, military specifications, and unique customer specifications. We have all of the customer approvals in the aerospace and power generation industries. All of our NDT inspectors are qualified and certified in accordance with the requirements of ASNT, SNT-TC-1A and NAS-410.
